It has been brought to the attention of The Honoris of a remarkable family of 9 children and their parents.

Grace- Angel the youngest has spent 2 years in hospital as a result of a medical mishap at the time of her birth. Mother has remained with Grace-Angel for 2 years in hospital. They are now home. The father and oldest daughter, who interrupted her education, are looking after the family.

We implore all our friends and supporters to pray to Blessed Michael McGivney for Grace-Angel and her family. We have been told that the family have a strong devotion to Blessed McGivney.

a strand of hair of Our Blessed Founder.

This has been placed in The Blessed Michael J. McGivney Honoris, for public viewing and prayers.

I am sure all of you as well as Our Committee are very appreciative of this wonderful gift.

Our Honoris finds ourselves in the middle of our Provincial Appeal of " 'Under One Roof.' "

Starting a prayer program at your council is a must.

The aim of any prayers said at the council level is to get more Knights praying. Praying to Father McGiviney is a natural for all Knights but not because of who he is but because any prayer connects us with God and with careful planning we can make it creative, fun and enjoyable.

Let's face it prayer is difficult and easily avoided. Our councils need to establish a prayer ministry so all Knights know someone at the council is praying for them, for their success, for their health, for their souls, for our founder and the unborn.

Form a prayer team in the council, Brothers who now go to Mass each morning. They should be available, be open, be humble. If members of the council are going through some difficult times spiritually, pray for them. Create opportunities for your members to see the Chaplain on a regular basis.

Prayer should be the focus of our council meetings, activities and our degrees. Use the prayers established and approved by the Honoris. Get members excited about prayer and praying to our founder. Knights can lead by hearing God's voice.

We need council prayer partners not to be in a hurry. Prayer is so powerful, it recharges, heals and revives us. By requesting prayers from the Honoris know that you have people praying for you but have members of the council do the same. Not only for Brothers in need but for those who have passed on. Saying the prayers on the Honoris site joins you with others doing the same thing. That unity is powerful.

Our older members will wish to make this a part of their lives and it will give them a role with one of our council programs.

Simple steps, can be to start all meetings with the opening and closing prayers from the Honoris. All first degree and second degrees held at the council with the degree prayers found at the Honoris web site.

Ephesians and Colossians talk about how the same power that created the universe and raised Jesus from the dead is now flowing through us in the power of the Holy Spirit. Every Knight should be asking ourselves, "what am I doing with all that power?" The more we pray, the more we learn. We will learn there is power in praying in the name of Jesus, and to our founder Father McGivney.

The aim of prayer as a Knights is to help people pray more personally.

Prayer For Help In These Troubled Times

As Father McGivney reminded us...we need to thank our Lord, for this new day. We proclaim God's reign in our lives, our nation and all the earth. We ask our Lady, Mother of God, to aid us at this time.

During this time ... we pray for wisdom of our leaders and for the safety of our front line workers, for healing of those who are affected with the Covid-19 virus and for their families. As Father McGivney reminded us by his life, we need to remove all fear, and replace this fear with affirmation and gather strength from words given to us by our Lord.

We pray to Father McGivney to help us and that in God, we might help each other.

In Jesus name.

Amen.

Did you know...

Father McGivney spent most of his ministry teaching the basic tenets of our church. Today most of us seem to have lost some of what Father McGivney was so concerned about. There are not many people, many educated people, people in the know, many who are Knights of Columbus, who cannot remember the Ten Commandments of God, nor the Beatitudes and these important to Father McGivney.

Do you know?

The Ten Commandments:

I am the Lord your God, you shall have no other god before me.
You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
Remember to keep holy the Sabbath Day.
Honour your father and your mother.
You shall not kill.
You shall not commit adultery.
You shall not steal.
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour.
You shall not covet your neighbour's wife.
You shall not covet your neighbour's goods.

The Ten Commandments are a description of the basic freedom from sin that is necessary to live as a Christian

The Beatitudes (CCC 1716):

The beatitudes are different altogether. These are the blessings that Jesus talked about in the Sermon on the Mount, and they offer an entirely different moral code, one, which is inviting rather than prohibitive:

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that morn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they, which do hunger, and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they, which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

The Beatitudes are at the heart of Jesus' preaching. They express Jesus' charity.

My Brothers, it is our responsibility to teach your children and grandchildren about the Catholic faith. Instructing them on their prayer life, the Mass, and on the Ten Commandments, along with the Beatitudes that were given to us by Jesus Christ and important to our founder and should be for all of us.

Parents are the first and most important teachers of their children and grandchildren. Pray to God for guidance and He will answer and be with you in this responsibility.

Dear Brother Knights and friends,
We are all aware that our beloved Church is going through a difficult time.
The Blessed Father Michael McGivney Honoris is initiating prayer for our Church and its members.
Please take a moment to reflect on what you may do to help.
Be it saying the rosary if you have not been in the habit.
Saying the St. Michael prayer as suggested by our Archbishop.
Saying the prayer for our own Father McGivney a fine example of a caring
and hard working parish priest.

The Blessed Father Michael J. McGivney Honoris Committee has an announcement for our followers and supporters.

As of May 1st, 2018 all deceased and future deceased on our Memorial Page are enrolled for daily Masses. The stipend for this comes out of your contributions. This is a way that we can show our appreciation for your prayers and support.

Installation Of New Statue
Father Michael J. McGivney

This lovely hand carved statue was provided to "The Blessed Father Michael J. McGivney Honoris" by Brother Kevin Daudelin, former Ontario State Deputy, Knights of Columbus. In 2013 Brother Daudelin commissioned Mr. Antonio Caruso, Artist and Art Director, Venutas Fine Arts Inc., Vaughan, Ontario, Canada, to create this beautiful representation of Fr. Michael McGivney, founder of the Knights of Columbus. It was blessed by Most Reverend Fred J. Colli, Bishop of the Diocese of Thunder Bay and State Chaplain, State Board of Ontario, Knights of Columbus.

The statue depicts Father Michael McGivney in his liturgical vestment, in the action of lifting the precious Body and Blood of Christ, offering the Eucharist to the faithful and proclaiming "Ecce Agnus Dei Qui tollit peccata mundi" ... Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world". It is carved out of one solid piece of linden wood (material used over centuries and millennia by various cultures and religions, in making of sacred objects, vessels and furnishings).
